PokerStars New Year Series Brings Three Main Events & $3M up for Grabs This Sunday PokerStars New Year Series Brings Three Main Events & $3M up for Grabs This Sunday

This Sunday, Jan 12, the PokerStars New Year Series is coming to its big conclusion, with three Main Events offering a massive combined guarantee of $3,000,000.

While buy-ins for each of the three tournaments vary quite a bit ($109, $1,050, and $5,200), all three have the same guaranteed prize pool of $1,000,000, so the series will wrap things up in style with some big winners.

Coming on Monday, Jan 13, are also Phase 2s of Event #1. There are two iterations of this particular event, with buy-ins of $5.50 and $55 and respective guarantees of $250,000 and $1,000,000, and you still have enough time to get involved and get through Phase 1.

Low Main Event Featuring a Massive $100k Bounty

Of the three Main Events scheduled for this Sunday, the Low version brings the best value for money. With a buy-in of just $109, the tournament offers a big guarantee of $1,000,000, but that’s a small part of its appeal.

Low Main Event will play out in the Mystery Bounty format, with the top bounty of $100,000 on offer. As is common, mystery bounties will kick in once players make the money, so you can end up picking big bucks without making the final table.

For those looking to get in on a discount, PokerStars is running MTT satellites around the clock, with buy-ins of $5.50 and $11, so with a bit of effort and some luck, you could secure your seat without spending the full $109.

This one, like the other two Mains, is a two-day affair, so keep this in mind. All players who still have chips in front of them after about eight hours of play will go on a break and will return on Monday, Jan 13, to play down to the winner.

Big PKO Action Ahead

The $1,050 Main Event will play out in a more traditional progressive knockout format. Half of the original buy-in ($500) will go towards bounties to kick things off, and for every player eliminated, at least $250 will be awarded.

As this tournament progresses, those knockout rewards are bound to become very juicy, so if you join the action, be prepared for some fireworks. There will be no punches pulled at the tables as everyone will be trying to put their chips to good use and go after short stacks.

Although the price of admission is quite steep for most players’ bankrolls, there are many qualifiers on offer, and you can start for as little as $1.10. To get there, though, you’ll need to get through three rounds, so start trying as soon as possible to give yourself enough time for a few attempts.

Deep Stack Action for the Big Guns

Finally, the High version of the Main Event comes with a buy-in that justifies the name. Those looking to get involved will have to set aside at least $5,200 for a seat.

This particular tournament features a classic structure without any bounties. All players will start over 200 big blinds deep and levels last 20 minutes, so there will be plenty of play. Up to three reentries are allowed during the late registration period that lasts for almost six hours.

It goes without saying that this event will attract some of the biggest names in poker who not only have the required bankroll but are also eager to test their skills against other top-level players.

That said, PokerStars does offer a path for every player to try and get involved for a chance to (virtually) rub shoulders with the best, and qualifiers start at just $0.55.

So, head over to PokerStars right now and get everything ready for the big weekend ahead. With millions up for grabs, why not take your shot?
