DraftKings' Spins Game Electric Poker Goes Live in New Jersey DraftKings' Spins Game Electric Poker Goes Live in New Jersey

DraftKings’ lottery sit and go poker game, Electric Poker (EP), is now live in New Jersey, marking its third US state after Michigan and Pennsylvania.

The game launched on Tuesday, March 11, making DraftKings the sixth operator to offer regulated online poker in New Jersey.

EP follows the standard lottery sit-and-go structure—a fast-paced, three-handed tournament with a randomly determined top prize. Payouts range from 2x the buy-in, which happens nearly 50% of the time, to a rare jackpot of 10,000x the buy-in, occurring roughly once in a million games.

While Electric Poker largely sticks to the industry-standard format, it introduces a unique twist: Electric Mode, a Blast-style game clock inspired by WSOP/888poker that forces all players all-in after a set number of blinds. This speeds up play but may be unappealing to regular grinders.

So far, EP remains the only peer-to-peer poker game offered by the leading US sportsbook and casino giant, meaning DraftKings has yet to launch a full-fledged online poker platform like PokerStars, WSOP, or BetMGM Poker.

As in other states, players with an existing DraftKings Casino New Jersey account can access the game through the casino lobby on both desktop and mobile. EP is currently available at buy-ins ranging from $1 to $25, with prize multipliers reaching up to 10,000x. The rake is a competitive 7% across all stakes.

The launch in NJ comes just a day after a Pennsylvania online poker player won $35,000 in an Electric Poker game, coming on a $5 buy-in and hitting a rare 10,000x multiplier.

Third State Launch Within a Year

Electric Poker debuted in Michigan last August, catching the industry by surprise as an unexpected built-in poker product. Following its success, it expanded to Pennsylvania in October. The operator reports that the game has seen strong player engagement since its launch, prompting its expansion into a third state.

“Since launching Electric Poker in August, the reception from DraftKings Casino players has been very positive, leading to the expansion of the exclusive product to New Jersey,” said Jason March, Vice President of iGaming Marketing and Operations at DraftKings in a press release. “We’re excited to be able to offer this exceptional title to more customers, delivering them a one-of-a-kind, innovative game and a first-class online poker experience.”

It remains unclear whether Electric Poker shares its player pool between New Jersey and Michigan—both of which are part of the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA), allowing operators to merge player pools across compacted states.

Previously, this wasn’t a consideration since EP was live only in Michigan, which is a MSIGA member, while Pennsylvania was not (though it is set to join soon).

Currently, it appears that EP operates with separate player pools, but DraftKings has the option to merge them, which could improve liquidity and increase game frequency. However, in Michigan, EP is classified as a casino game. Under the terms of Michigan’s shared liquidity agreement, operators are restricted from including any internet games other than poker.

Because EP falls under Michigan’s casino category, DraftKings technically may not be able to link its player pool with New Jersey.

That said, this limitation is unlikely to impact DraftKings’ plans, as EP does not rely on large player pools. Since each game requires only three players to start, liquidity isn’t a major concern. While shared liquidity could reduce wait times and increase game availability, EP should function smoothly regardless.

Launch in More States Possible

DraftKings operates an online casino in five US states and Ontario, Canada, but EP has yet to launch in Connecticut, West Virginia, or Ontario.

However, pokerfuse has learned that DraftKings has been testing the game in Connecticut, where no operator currently offers legal online poker. Approval in the state is still pending, but if granted, Connecticut could become the fourth US market for EP.

It’s also possible that DraftKings is working behind the scenes to bring the game to West Virginia and potentially Ontario as well.
