Just like its UK counterpart, WSOP.com will using software from 888 Holdings. Licensed by the Nevada Gaming Commission, WSOP.com will be open to all residents and visitors in the state of Nevada.
The poker room will be the second regulated poker room in the state, following Ultimate Poker, which has enjoyed almost four months alone in the market.
Differentiating itself from the incumbant, WSOP.com will offer Omaha and Stud games at launch. A Mac client will also be available from Thursday along with a PC download.
The World Series of Poker Online Championship, its inaugural online equivalent to the world’s most important land-based tournament series, promises to have a larger online prize pool than Ultimate’s Summer Series.
According to today’s media conference, over 12,000 people signed up for WSOP.com accounts during the World Series.
There will be some restrictions at launch, it was conceded in the media conference Monday. There will be no mobile client, and deposit and withdrawals will not be possible at the cage.
