Ongame has announced that the Scandinavian operators Bet24 and Scandic Bookmakers will both launch on Ongame’s “dot.dk” poker network when regulated online gaming comes to Denmark on January 1, 2012. The two sites already operate skins on Ongame's international poker network.
“First-mover advantage is important for an operator like us. Denmark is a very important market with fierce competition,” said Claus Gemal Rasmussen, CEO at Scandic Bookmakers. “Ongame enables us to be present with a premium poker experience in Denmark from day one.”
Although only a country with a population of 5.5m, gambling is popular in Denmark and, according to Ongame’s figures, online betting commands a large slice of the market. The regulation permits foreign businesses to apply for licenses and, although not finalized, reports suggest that player pools will not be segregated.
