Full Tilt Poker has confirmed that it will not be renewing its sponsorship contract with Tom “durrrr” Dwan to represent the site as one of “The Professionals”—a group of high stakes cash game plaers including Gus Hansen and Viktor ”Islidur1” Blom.
The definitive word regarding the future relationship between the site and Dwan came from Full Tilt following the removal of Dwan’s likeness from the site.
Posters on the 2+2 forums noticed that Dwan was no longer pictured on the login screen over the weekend and PokerListings obtained the following statement from Full Tilt: “Full Tilt Poker and Tom Dwan have agreed to part ways following the recent expiration of Dwan’s contract.”
Dwan’s lack of participation in promotional events and play on the site are suspected to be among the reasons for the parting of ways. Durrrr has spent much of his time recently in Asia attending ultra-high stakes live games in Macau since relocating there in 2012.
Hansen and Dwan were the only two Full Tilt Pros held over for the site’s former incarnation after Rational Group—parent company of PokerStars— struck a deal with the US Department of Justice to purchase the assets of Full Tilt.
