After three days of uproar, Genting Poker has reversed a previous decision to not honor tournament dollars accrued via a promotional tie-in with The Hendon Mob, calling the miscommunication “a genuine error.”
As reported on pokerfuse yesterday, Genting has ended a promotional deal with The Hendon Mob which allowed referred players to accrue tournament dollars that could be cashed in to play in live and online poker tournaments.
First announced on Friday on The Hendon Mob community forums, new poker room manager James Lowe stated that any points already accrued “are no longer valid,” and later clarified “your tournament $ have unfortunately been cancelled.”
Players confirmed that tournament dollars on Friday could not be redeemed. A spokesperson for The Hendon Mob stated that they were not aware of the promotional cancellation prior to reading it on their own forums.
Thankfully, this decision has now been reversed. Though the promotion remains cancelled, Lowe returned to the forums to clarify “a genuine mistake on [his] part.” All points accrued up to June 14 are now redeemable.
Posting on an outraged player’s Facebook wall, a Genting spokesperson apologised for “wires getting severely crossed,” adding “... not our finest hour, but a genuine error.”
