“PokerFest,” PartyPoker’s first ever online multi-table tournament series, got started on Sunday with a $215-buyin NL tourney. Over 1600 people registered for the event, surpassing the $300k guarantee during the late registration period. The event marks the first in 47 events spread over the next 2 weeks, with $3m in total prize pools, culminating in a $1m-guaranteed main event on November 6.
Along with the guarantees, there are also special leaderboards for the series, jackpots if players win or final table multiple events, and prize draws for all who participate.
First announced last month, “PokerFest” is the largest in a spate of new MTT series announced this fall, as poker rooms look to fill the void left by the demise of Full Tilt and its popular FTOPS series.
“The series caters for players at all levels. The buy-ins are diverse and achievable … many of the tournaments require only PartyPoints to enter,” Party rep Warren Lush said in an interview with PokerStrategy.com. “Our goal is to make it an annual event, where prizes and participation increase every year.”
