Cake network’s new owner Lock Poker has announced that it will increase rakeback from 33% to 36% with effect from the June 1st.
Lock Poker acquired the network this month and will rebrand the network “Revolution Gaming.” The new brand will launch in a software update at the end of May.
Rakeback for new players has not been available on Merge since June 2011. Players with older accounts who still receive rakeback on Lock Poker have an “over the table” 35% rakeback, so an increase to 36% ensures Cake skins are not left behind.
Lock Poker is simultaneously leaving the Merge network. Lock’s CEO Jennifer Larsen explained, “Merge was a great stepping-stone for us, but we have outgrown them. We really need to forge our own path to continued success. The only way to do this is to stay true to our of core philosophy: partnering with our players.”
Revolution Gaming will continue to accept US players, and is the major competitor to Merge in this market. Lock Poker claims that it provided 40% of the traffic for the Merge network. If that proves to be true, the new Revolution network should immediately overtake Merge as the largest network still accepting US players.
Offering 36% rakeback, paid automatically into player accounts every Wednesday, substantially differentiates Revolution from Merge which relies on a comprehensive VIP program to reward loyal players.
