New Jersey Sunday Tournaments: party's Party, NO-verlay Overlays
Key Takeaways
  • partypoker NJ’s refreshed $50,000 Sunday Big again easily surpassed its guarantee thanks to its new player-friendly new structure.
  • WSOP’s two big Sunday tournaments also surpassed their guarantees.
  • Despite the NO-verlay promotion, Ultimate Poker had a $9k overlay on their big Sunday $20k.

The biggest weekly tournament in the regulated New Jersey market, partypoker’s Sunday $50,000, again easily surpassed its guarantee thanks to a new player-friendly structure.

In total 329 players paid the $200 buyin across the two sites on the network, partypoker.com NJ and Borgata, to create a prize pool of just over $60,000.

The numbers are slightly down on last week, which enticed 378 players, but it is still a big improvement over the turnouts of the previous format.

The $50k doubles to a special one-off $100k guarantee in two weeks’ time.

WSOP NJ's $215-buyin $25k Sunday guarantee attracted 135 players, successfully covering its guarantee. The Sunday $10k did even better, attracting 154 players to play the $109 tournament and making for a healthy $15,400 prize pool.

Over on Ultimate Poker, 126 players paid the $100 buyin for its $20,000 Big Sunday, well below the guarantee. That means players enjoyed more than $9000 of overlay—but they would have preferred the “freeroll” which UP’s current “NO-verlay” promotion promises for any scheduled tournament that meets its guarantee.

888poker NJ’s Sunday tournament, a less-ambitious $10k guarantee with a $185+15 buyin, also fell short. Only 47 played the tournament; even with the fee included, 888 had to add $600 to make up the $10,000.
