PartyPoker has announced the schedule for its spring Pokerfest online poker tournament series. This year it comprises 47 tournaments with a guaranteed total of $3.5m in prize money and a Main Event with a $1m guarantee.
Although overshadowed by SCOOP, PokerStars’ spring tournament series with prize pool guarantees in the tens of millions, the Pokerfest is still one of the year’s big MTT series. The final event is scheduled to start on the same day that SCOOP begins, so it offers a good warm-up for MTT fans.
It is only the second time Party will run a big MTT tournament series. The inaugural Pokerfest I was in October 2011, with a similar format and $3m in guaranteed prizes, so it seems Party is making this a bi-annual event to coincide with SCOOP and WCOOP.
The tournaments will be mostly No Limit Hold’em, but there are six Pot Limit Omaha and three Fixed Limit Hold’em events. Twelve events will be rebuys and the buy in for one event each day will be in Party Points.
A leaderboard will track players over the whole series and share out prize money at three buy in levels. Leaderboards can be tracked on PartyPoker and WPT Poker websites.
PartyPoker is offering a number of additional prizes specific to this promotion. There are jackpot prizes for players who finish in the money in 10 and 20 tournaments; final table 5 or 10 events; and a WSOP package for any player who wins 3 events.
There will also be two $1 buy in side event tournaments every day. PartyPoker is advertising that each one of these will have a twist which will be announced each day in the lobby.
