Continuing the trend towards missions and achievements, the PokerStars January Daily Challenges promotion asks players to complete a task that varies every day. Unusually, Pokerstars has included a bonus challenge designed to encourage its players to open accounts on its sister site Full Tilt Poker.
The bonus challenge is completed when PokerStars players make a real money transfer of $10 or more to their Full Tilt account, and play a real money Sit and Go tournament before the end of the month. Those who do so will be rewarded with a ticket to a Bonus Challenge All-in Shootout $15k freeroll tournament which takes place on Full Tilt on February 7.
All of the regular daily challenges are set at levels easily achievable by recreational players. They include tasks such as making a $10 deposit, earning 1 VPP and playing the $11 Sunday Storm tournament. Each successfully completed challenge earns a ticket to a Daily Challenge All-in Shootout freeroll.
The freeroll format follows that trialed late last year. Players do o’t have to turn up to take part, and the antes and blinds are set at a level that means all players are all in on every hand until the tournament is over. The Daily Challenge events all come with a $15k prize pool added by PokerStars and guarantee $1k to the winner.
Players who complete ten or more challenges during the month will also earn entry to a Final Challenge All-in Shootout, with $100k in the prize pool. PokerStars will also distribute 10,000 “exclusive” gifts during the event.
Not for the first time, but slightly unusual for PokerStars, players who want to take part in the January promotion have to opt in. Historically, PokerStars has used automatic opt ins for its promotions. Players must input the Star code “CHALLENGE” to their desktop or mobile client to be registered for the promotion.
