The Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP) – the most recent addition to the PokerStars championship series line-up – gets underway Wednesday. The series will feature only turbo structured tournaments played across a variety of games with buy-ins ranging from $5.50 to $2,100.
From January 19-29 players will compete in 50 events with a combined prize pool guarantee of $10m. The schedule covers six different game types, several hyper turbo tournaments, shootouts and a high roller event.
Though there has been tremendous growth in popularity of turbo speed formats in recent years, the TCOOP represents the first time in online poker history that a major poker room has offered a series featuring only turbo format tournaments.
As is standard in other “COOP” events at PokerStars, the winner will receive a Championship prize in addition to the cash won; however the details of what that prize will be for the TCOOP have not been finalized.
