PokerScout, an independent tracker of online poker traffic, has posted an article covering the drop in traffic since the so-called “Black Friday”.
According to the article, the poker rooms named in Friday’s indictments lost a significant amount of traffic: PokerStars down by 25%, Full Tilt by 48% and Cereus by 39%.
Other US facing sites not mentioned in the indictments, including Merge, Bodog, Cake and Everleaf, saw their traffic increase by as much as 26% and the European networks posted small gains as well.
Soon after the DOJ indictments, PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker chose to stop serving real money poker games to US players. The Cereus Network – UltimateBet and Absolute Poker, also named in the indictment – are apparently still allowing US players to play for real money, despite a warning in the client suggesting otherwise.
