Max Keeps Breaking Records, Mercedes Dominant in Brazil
The win in Mexico moved Max Verstappen level on career wins with four-time champion Alain Prost at fourth place in the all-time list. Only the likes of Lewis Hamilton (103), Michael Schumacher (91), and Sebastian Vettel (53) have managed more wins than Max’s 51.
Interestingly, it is just Alain Prost who has been the most successful driver in the history of the Brazilian Grand Prix, with five wins at Jacarepague (Rio de Janeiro) and one at Interlagos (Sao Paulo). In terms of the record-holding constructors in Brazil, McLaren stands tall with 12 wins. Mercedes dominated this course in the last decade, with six wins in the previous eight Interlagos races. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell won the previous two editions of the Brazilian Grand Prix. Mercedes looked great in the last two races as well. Second Place in the Driver’s and Constructor’s Championship is Up for Grabs
In a season of Verstappen’s unprecedented dominance, it was very hard to find genuine battles worth paying attention to, but we may have received a super-interesting one ahead of the final three races of the year following the happenings in Mexico.
The current No. 2 in the Driver’s Championship, Sergio Perez, went all-in last Sunday in front of the home crowd in Mexico. While he got off to his best start of the season, moving from P5 into the battle for the leading place, he entered Turn 1 with massive overspeed to collide with Ferrari’s Charles LeClerc and go out of the race. His withdrawal, paired with Lewis Hamilton’s runner-up finish, helped the legendary Briton cut the gap behind Perez to just 20 points in the second position of the Driver’s Championship.
Since both LeClerc and Carlos Sainz finished above sixth-placed George Russell in Mexico, Ferrari and Mercedes gained 27 points each last weekend. That leaves Mercedes 22 points above Ferrari in the second position of the Constructor’s Championship, with three races remaining.

Ricciardo eventually came seventh in last Sunday’s race, showing significant resistance in the battles against the Mercedes drivers and keeping McLaren’s Oscar Piastri at bay along the way. His Alpha Tauri moved level on points with Alfa Romeo in eighth place of the Constructor’s standings. They are now just 12 points shy of Williams in seventh, meaning another powerful display from Ricciardo could move his team further up the ranks and secure more millions of dollars in their cashier.
