Leading free-to-play social poker product Zynga Poker recently spread Short Deck Hold’em, its first new poker game since it launched some 15 years ago.
The stripped-deck variant was deployed earlier this month, “unlocked” by players reaching a certain level, as first reported by PokerNews this week.
The game was only introduced for a limited time and it has since been withdrawn, a Zynga spokesperson told PRO. It was live for only one week and pulled last Thursday, January 20.
Following publication of this article, Zynga informed PRO that Short Deck “is based on an in-game event system” and it will run at multiple times throughout the year. The next scheduled event will take place January 28 to February 4.
There were no press details from the company, nor information on the Zynga Poker website about the new game. However, an update to the Google Play app store on January 12, and later on Apple’s App Store on January 19, note, “Introducing an all-new way to play, Short Deck Hold’em!”
