Every department and every staff member is always striving to improve and be the best, and to win this award, one PokerStars has won so often, is a testament to that.
In the busy poker world, one noteworthy piece of information that escaped our attention recently is that PokerStars has once again secured the accolade of the best poker operator.
The Red Spade giant emerged victorious as the Poker Operator of the Year at the esteemed 2023 EGR Awards, held at Grosvenor House, London, on October 26, 2023.
This marks the sixth occasion in the past decade that PokerStars has claimed this coveted accolade at the pinnacle of the industry’s most distinguished awards ceremony.
It triumphed over leading online poker room GGPoker, Kindred Group (the parent company of Unibet Poker), and Novibet, one of the skins operating under the iPoker network.

“To be part of such a prestigious industry event, and of course to win, was really special,” said Will Shilibier, PR Manager at PokerStars. “Loads of teams worked long and hard on the submission, and it really showcased everything that PokerStars does and how well we do it.”
“Every department and every staff member is always striving to improve and be the best, and to win this award, one PokerStars has won so often, is a testament to that,” Shilibier added.
The EGR Awards stand as the benchmark in the online gaming industry, uniting leading online gaming operators and service providers. These awards recognize excellence and innovation among B2C operators across various categories, spanning customer service to safer gambling, encompassing all verticals within the industry.
An impartial, external panel of judges evaluates industry stakeholders, providing an unbiased analysis during the judging period from June 2022 to June 2023.
This year, more than 30 distinct award categories were presented, encompassing areas such as Rising Star, Game of the Year, Crypto Operator, Affiliate of the Year, and the highly coveted Operator of the Year. The categories spanned various gambling niches, including poker, casino, sports betting, lottery, and esports.
Six Times in Ten Years
PokerStars has once again secured the title in the Poker Operator of the Year category, marking its third win since 2020. Notably, it previously claimed the same category for three consecutive years, spanning from 2014 to 2016.
In the last year, 888poker secured the Poker Operator of the Year award, marking its second win since 2013. Additionally, partypoker has clinched the title thrice, achieving victory from 2017 to 2019.
Despite no longer holding the top spot in online poker traffic, PokerStars’ victory underscores its ongoing innovation. Despite being shortlisted, GGPoker, the leading online poker platform, could not claim the title.
While PokerStars faced stiff competition, its recognition is noteworthy, especially considering it is no longer the leader in online poker traffic. The platform’s commitment to innovation, coupled with its acclaimed software, continues to position it as an industry leader, evident in its recent introduction of the trending Mystery Bounty Poker format.
