Today marks the first anniversary of the soft launch of online gaming in New Jersey with the full launch one year ago on Wednesday the 26th.
Online poker rooms are breaking out the candles and party hats to celebrate the one-year anniversary of US regulated online poker in New Jersey. One year ago on today, online gaming operators in New Jersey opened their doors to a limited number of players for eight hours marking the first time ever US regulated online gambling took place in the state.
Players in New Jersey will be receiving gifts—in the form of promotions—as part of the celebration.

888: $10k Freerolls
888 is holding three $10,000 free roll tournaments as part of its one-year celebration. Beginning on Friday, 888 will hold one tournament each day over the weekend.
Each real money player registered on their site will receive a ticket to one of the freerolls, and it also provided players with the opportunity to enter all three tournaments by completing some basic missions.
Hopes for Year Two
Though revenues have not met expectations, there is a significant level of excitement as players in the industry look forward to the second year of regulated online gaming in New Jersey.
The addition of more financial operators that are willing to process igaming transactions bodes well for the industry. Improved geolocation technology promises to provide better service within the state. The possibility of new online poker rooms such as PokerStars, Full Tilt and Pala poker add excitement to future possibilities.
And, the possibility of New Jersey reaching an agreement with other jurisdictions that provide igaming within their borders shines even more hope on what could be a thriving US igaming industry.
