The famous Hippodrome Casino, PokerStars’ new partner in London, has launched its casino online. The site is powered by Microgaming casino software and is operated by the Betway Group.
Betway “... brings a market leading operational capability … in the form of loyalty marketing, VIP support, payment processing and customer retention programmes,” according to CEO Richard Akitt.
The move comes ahead of a reopening of its poker room, refurbished and rebranded as PokerStars LIVE, expected to open March 4. It follows the successful opening of PokerStars LIVE in Casino Gran Madrid earlier this month.
Online poker will also be offered, and it will be provided by PokerStars, though no further details on this aspect of the partnership has yet been published.
The site aims to recreate the London casino experience. New Hippodrome Online Director George Constantinou, recently appointed, asserts: “We have put a huge amount of effort into creating a true synergy between the clubhouse and our online offer, including the breadth of gaming available and the look and feel of the site. We have even incorporated photography of the Hippodrome itself so players can recognize rooms and locations throughout the venue.”
Players can deposit money online from within the brick and mortar casino, and players will be offered incentives to do so. A similar connection between the PokerStars LIVE room and the online poker room can be expected.
PokerStars took a small equity stake in the casino as part of its partnership deal, part of a wider strategy to expand its brick and mortar presence.
