Poker players love value, and this Sunday, 888poker is doubling the value of its big MTT games with the Sunday Sale. Main Sunday games at 888poker in the final weekend of August 2021 are all half-price for their buy-ins, with big guarantees still attached.
With lots of big games going on elsewhere during the month of August, 888poker is looking to attract players to its MTT games this weekend. With its ChampionChips Series in the books earlier in the month, the operator is in a period with no big series ongoing, even while competitors are still running series with big names and big guarantees attached.
To counter that and bring players to the platform for its big Sunday games, the operator is slashing the prices of its main games in half. The Main Event, the Big Shot, and the High Roller are all running this weekend at reduced rates, but with $225,000 in guarantees still in place across the sale games.
The Sunday Sale
The Sunday Sale is not a new concept for 888poker, or even other operators. 888poker ran its last Sunday Sale in June of this year, and the promotion ran several times throughout 2020 and early 2021. Even PokerStars USA got into the half-price game this year, running a half-price sale across its US markets.
The Sunday Sale this weekend features the three big games that typically run on Sunday, but at half their usual price. Guarantees are still high though, making this weekend very high-value on 888poker.
The Main Event looks to be the best value game of the weekend as usual. With the reduced buy-in, the game will need 3,000 entries to hit the guarantee, meaning there’s a lot of value in the game. The Big Shot needs 1,000 players, while the the High Roller needs 200 entries to make guarantee, so there could be value across all the games this weekend.

Sunday Sale High Roller | $265.00 | $50,000 | $188.68 |
Big Competition for Players
888poker’s entry into the July series games was the ChampionChip Summer Games. The Olympics-themed series was aimed at low stakes players, competing more with PokerStars MicroMillions than with the other big series running on competitor platforms.
Of course, the biggest series in the world right now, at least by the name and the hype, is the GGPoker World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online 2021. The massive series has been handing out Gold Bracelets throughout the month of August to international players, and racking up huge numbers.
Through the first half of the series, more than 69,000 entries were recorded, with $38 million in prizes distributed. Three games broke through the $5 million prize barrier to that point, and all games with guarantees have blown past the promised the numbers.
But GGPoker isn’t the only operator running a big series in August. The venerable World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) from PokerStars is also in full swing now with $100 million in guarantees across a wide range of buy-ins.
The series runs through September 15 on the PokerStars global client with multiple games per day. Games are divided into three buy-in levels, so most bankrolls can find games to play during WCOOP.
Even partypoker is getting in on the big series game this month. It is joining with its live tournament partner World Poker Tour (WPT) for the World Online Championships (WPT WOC). That series is also still ongoing with action through September 15. It culminates in a Main Event with $5 million guaranteed.
That is the environment that 888poker is throwing the Sunday Sale into this weekend. With lots of poker action happening this weekend on other platforms, the Sunday Sale looks to be a great way to capture some of the virtual action this weekend.
