Howard Lederer and Chris Ferguson have stepped down from the board of directors of the Poker players Alliance (PPA), according to a post on 2+2 by Rich “The Engineer” Muny. Lederer and Ferguson are believed by many to be two of the founders of Full Tilt Poker.
Many poker players believed that with Lederer and Ferguson on the board, a significant conflict of interest was present within the PPA. Players constantly questioned whether the organization was acting in the best interest of the players as it proclaimed, or was its agenda in line with the best interest of FTP.
While reactions seem to be mixed, those in favor of the resignations seem to outnumber those that believed the famous poker professionals were advantageous to the PPA and its plight. The cynics believe the move will have little if any impact on the organization and its ability to have online poker regulated in the US.
At this time no press release has been issued by the PPA but their web site has been updated to remove Lederer and Ferguson from the list of board members.
