The list of companies having applied to do online poker business in Nevada’s newly regulated environment has reached 32 with the confirmed application of Canada’s NRT Technology Corp. as a service provider.
The Toronto-based NRT Tech operates a branch location in Las Vegas and is a major manufacturer of ATM kiosks and related payment-processing equipment. If approved, NRT is expected to provide similar processing services for Nevada’s new online sector.
NRT’s application means the Nevada Gaming Commission has received the following applications to date, by category:
11 Operators
17 Manufacturers
24 Service Providers
Several entities have applied in more than one category, accounting for the overage, such as South Point Poker, which recently received tentative approval for its applications in all three categories and is expected to be the first to have virtual real-money cards in the air.
Three of the 32 corporate entities have also applied in a fourth category, Manufacturer of Associated Equipment. Those three are Aristocrat Technologies, WMS Industries, Inc. and SG Gaming Inc.
Aristocrat and WMS are widely known slot-machine manufacturers expected to provide equipment in support of the future poker sites, while SG Gaming is a division of Scientific Games, a noted maker of lottery-ticket kiosks.
Bally Technologies, International Game Technology (IGT) and Shuffle Master have already received interactive gaming licenses and expect to provide online poker services to brick-and-mortar casinos currently in the application process.
