- Mr S Iswaran, Minister In Prime Minister’s Office And Second Minister For Home Affairs And Trade And Industry has announced that the government plans to introduce new laws to counter internet gambling.
- The measures will include include new laws to give enforcement agencies the powers to act against operators, intermediaries and “facilitators.”
- In addition new laws will be introduced to “block access to gambling websites, block payments to remote gambling operators, and prohibit advertisements promoting remote gambling.”
- The reasons for the new laws were cited as consumer protection and to prevent organized crime.
