- South Australia has passed the Statutes Amendment (Gambling Reform) Bill 2013 (SA) which aims to reduce the number of problem gamblers by reducing the risks of gambling environments.
- The Bill introduces a number for restrictions on gaming machines known as “pokies.” Restrictions include a maximum bet of $5, a minimum rate of return of 87.5% and the machines may not be operated using bank notes.
- A second harm minimization measure has also been announced by South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill. The government intends to compile a “watchlist” of apps that are designated as unsuitable for children.
