The final weekend of PokerStars USA's Summer Stacks series is now complete, and overall it looks to have been a big success. The final weekend numbers show a solid performance in two of the three markets the series ran in.
Summer Stacks is a recreational-focused series running for much of June across the three PokerStars US markets: PokerStars PA, PokerStars MI and PokerStars NJ. Featuring low buy-ins of $100 and less, the series is aimed at a different pool than the higher-stakes 'COOP and 'SCOOP events.
The series ran simultaneously in all three US markets, with only small changes in each. The player pools are still state-segregated for this series, but with the recent expiry of the appeal period in the Wire Act case, and calls from the states for the Feds to clarify their position, it is an open question how much longer that will be the case.
- Great bonus$50 freeplay or Up to $600 deposit match bonus
- The world’s most regulated online poker site
- Great cash game traffic and some of the best weekly guaranteed MTTs
- Stars rewards program rewards play across poker, casino and sports
The final weekend was essentially a success across the board. While PS New Jersey came in a bit under expectations, the state still managed to collect more in fees than the games overlaid, so it finished in a small profit.
Both PS Pennsylvania and PS Michigan managed to hit the green on guarantees across the weekend. This was, notably, the first weekend of the series Michigan was able to manage that feat.
The stand-out market was clearly Pennsylvania. The Keystone state made guarantees on all three weekends by significant margins, with the final weekend coming in at a whopping $72,462 over guarantee.
Michigan
For the first time in three weekends, Michigan came in above the guarantees. While it managed to make up the shortfall in fees on the previous two weekends, the market missed the guarantee by a small amount on both the first and second weekends.
The final weekend reversed that trend, with almost $20,000 extra in the prize pools. Those prize pools came from the largest turnout for any of the weekends with 6,824 total entries.
While it was generally a great result, there were a few tournaments that did not get the expected attention. Two of the biggest misses were Event 82 and 87. The $50 Summer Stacks 82 missed its $3,500 guarantee by more than 35%, while the $100 Summer Stacks 87 was almost $5,000 off its guarantee.
It was a lot easier to find bright spots in the Michigan final weekend results. The Main Event, guaranteeing $100,000, brought in more than $112,000, while both events 77 and 81 collected more than 50% more than their guarantees.
Overall, the final weekend in Michigan came in at about 7% above guarantee, with a total of $300,294 collected against $280,500 in guarantees.

New Jersey
The New Jersey Summer Stacks was the least successful of the three markets, both overall and in its final days. On the final weekend, it was the only market not to hit the guarantees.
The shortfall was small however, with almost $130,000 collected towards $136,000 in guarantees. That means the games were less than 5% off the mark, and the -$6,268 shortfall was easily covered by the almost $20,000 in fees. The final weekend was closer to the first weekend in losses, mitigating the larger miss from the second weekend of action.
It was not all doom and gloom across the final weekend. Friday night started off well, with the first two events crushing their guarantees by as much as 77%.
The picture beyond those first two games was bleaker, with 11 events missing their guarantees. That included the $50,000 Main Event, but the Main Event miss was among the smallest, collecting $49,480 with 539 entries. The biggest miss came in Summer Stacks 85 when the operator had to put in more than $4,000 to make up the prize pool.

Pennsylvania
The Keystone state was the biggest winner over the series compared to other markets. PA was the only market to hit guarantees on all three weekends, and the final weekend was covered by more than 25%.
With 8,378 total entries across the weekend events, Pennsylvanians came out in force for the final few days, and that led to almost $360,000 in total prize pools.
There were very few dark spots in the PA results, with only four games missing their posted guarantees. The biggest miss, both in terms of percentage and dollar value, came in the $50 Summer Stacks 82. Only 58 entries meant the $2,639 collected was more than $800 short of the guarantee.
Most of the final weekend in PA came in well above the guarantees however. The $100,000 guaranteed Main Event collected more than $32,000 over guarantee, while the second event of the weekend crushed its guarantee by almost 60%.
