PokerStars’ European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona has attracted 2120 entries to its €5300 Main Event, making it the second largest in history.
The prize pool of the Main Event grew to €10,282,000, falling shy of the record set last year, which brought in 2,294 entries for an €11.1 million prize pool.
Still, it is only the second time in the tournament’s history that it has built a prize pool in eight figures. The event faced multiple headwinds — including concerns over a new Spanish law on taxation of player winnings, and disrupted travel from the UK which may have prevented many Brits from making Day 1 — so the event’s success is certainly impressive.
