The time is finally here! The much anticipated WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas is underway, and players from all four corners of the world have gathered in the tropical paradise for some hot poker action and the chance to win coveted WSOP bracelets.

Things kicked off yesterday, December 3, with the first two flights of the $1500 Millionaire Maker event. There will be several more flights over the next couple of days, as the tournament offers a rather ambitious guarantee of $5,000,000, so it will need quite a few entries.

The Millionaire Maker is one of the more attractive tournaments on the WSOP Paradise 2023 schedule, but by the time all is said and done, 15 bracelets will find new owners in the Bahamas. By the looks of things, some of those could end up on the wrists of well-known players such as Phil Hellmuth, Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier, and Daniel Negreanu, who have already arrived at the destination.

First-Ever WSOP Paradise Sets the Stage

The World Series of Poker and GGPoker announced the WSOP Paradise festival a few months back, and it was exciting news for the entire poker community. The opportunity to play for 15 more bracelets and join tournaments with massive guarantees is stuff poker dreams are made of.

Overall, WSOP Paradise promises at least $50,000,000 in prizes across 15 events of differing buy-ins. Event #2, which comes at $1425, even offered players a chance to play Day 1 online and travel to the Bahamas only if they get past the first hurdle.

Overall, the schedule offers something for every pocket, with a few very affordable tournaments and a few high rollers, while the $15,000,000 Main Event is priced right in the middle, featuring a $5000 buy-in.

The inaugural WSOP Paradise event will likely set the stage for the future, and although it is still in the early days at the Atlantis Resort & Casino, things seem to be shaping up nicely. In addition to the big names, many qualifiers won their tickets to the Bahamas playing online satellites at GGPoker, and they will be looking for their opportunities to parlay small buy-ins into big money.

Will Game of Gold Be Traveling to the Bahamas?

In addition to all the action we already knew was happening in the Bahamas this December, WSOP has just dropped a hint that the final tournament of the hugely successful Game of Gold show could be taking place on the Caribbean island as well.

The show’s penultimate episode went live today on GGPoker’s YouTube channel, resulting in the final six players who will now compete for the first-place prize of $456,000.

Moving the final game of the show to the Bahamas would be quite a cherry on top, as that would mean that although the rest of the show was filmed ahead of time, the winner is not yet known, and we would get to see the final action in real time. It would be a befitting end for the first-ever major poker reality show.

Let the December Poker Adventure Begin!

The start of WSOP Paradise marks the start of the richest month for live poker of 2023 (and possibly beyond). In a couple of days, the final stop of the PokerStars LIVE EPT will kick off in Prague, while the WPT World Championship will see cards in the air in Las Vegas in a week.

That is a lot of action in a very short span, but if there were the right time for it, it has to be 2023. Live poker has been booming, with the WSOP Main Event finally breaking the record in place for over 15 years and online operators putting a lot of effort towards live event satellites.

As things unfold in the Bahamas, we will be eyeing the big names to see if Phil Hellmuth can further increase his bracelet advantage over the rest of the pack and if Daniel Negreanu can compensate for the missed opportunities during the summer.

We are in for ten days of exciting action as WSOP Bahamas wraps up on December 10, when the poker world’s attention will shift towards Las Vegas and the WPT World Championship.
