With less than a month to go until WSOP Toronto 2025 kicks off, online qualifiers have resumed on GGPoker after a brief pause.
As expected, satellites are in full swing on GGPoker Ontario, with buy-ins starting as low as C$1. Players can climb the steps through a C$10 qualifier leading to a C$50 Mega Satellite, which awards seats to the WSOPC Toronto Main Event worth C$2000. Freerolls are also scheduled, offering multiple entries into step qualifiers.
At least ten WSOPC Toronto Main Event seats are being awarded daily. Before the temporary halt, several players had already won their spots, but “technical issues“ prompted the operator to suspend the satellites after running for just two days.
- Or get up to $100 worth of rewards
- Available in many regulated markets
- Great MTT schedule including WSOP events
Now, they are back at full capacity. At the time of writing, 22 players have already won Main Event seats, and with satellites running at this pace, the number of qualifiers is expected to grow into the hundreds.
These satellites are not limited to Ontario poker players—Canadians on the global GGPoker dot-com platform can also take their shot at qualifying for the WSOPC Toronto Main Event. While the frequency of satellites is lower than on GGPoker Ontario, there are still plenty of opportunities to win a seat, with buy-ins starting at just $2.
Last year’s Main Event saw 1,600 entries, creating a C$2.8 million prize pool. Of those, 324 players qualified online through GGPoker Ontario and the global GGPoker client. This year, organizers are anticipating an even bigger turnout of at least 1,700 entries, which could mean even more seats awarded through online qualifiers.
The WSOP Circuit Toronto 2025 returns to the Great Canadian Casino Resort from April 10 to 22, with GGPoker serving as the official sponsor of the venue’s poker room.
The venue on the same grounds as the Woodbine Racetrack opened in June 2023. As the largest casino resort in Canada and one of the biggest in North America, it recently introduced a 30-table poker room.
This year’s schedule has been expanded to feature 11 ring events—three more than in 2024—with organizers expecting a record-breaking prize pool exceeding C$6.5 million. The Main Event alone is projected to generate over C$3 million, while the High Roller is expected to surpass C$1.1 million.
The C$2,000 buy-in Main Event kicks off on April 17 with three starting flights, leading up to the final table on April 21. Other major events include the C$3,500 High Roller (April 21–22) and the C$1,000 No-Limit Hold’em event (April 12–13).
New additions to the schedule include a C$300 Ladies Event on April 11 and a C$400 Seniors Event on April 15. The increasingly popular C$800 Mystery Bounty makes its debut as a two-day event from April 14–15. Also joining the lineup is a C$600 Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) event, while the series wraps up with a C$400 No-Limit Hold’em event on April 22.
Qualify Online to Avoid Long Queues Before Seats Fill Up
The 2024 WSOP Circuit Toronto faced several logistical challenges due to overwhelming demand. Many events sold out well in advance, and turnout could have been even higher if not for venue capacity limits. Long registration lines became a major issue, with some players waiting for hours only to be turned away when late registration closed. Additionally, tournament entry caps prevented many hopefuls from participating.
While organizers managed to address some of these concerns, capacity limitations remain a factor. This year, slight adjustments have been made to accommodate more players, but space is still restricted. The Main Event, along with several others, is capped at 540 players, while some tournaments are limited to 360 or even 315 players.
A 540-player cap doesn’t necessarily mean the tournament is limited to that many entries. Since the Main Event spans multiple starting flights, each day can accommodate up to 540 players. Additionally, as players bust out and choose not to re-enter, new players can take their spots.
But why take the risk of being turned away or waiting in long lines when you can win your seat online? Online qualifiers offer a hassle-free way to enter, running around the clock during peak hours, with multiple chances to qualify at a fraction of the cost.
Last year, at least 20% of the field consisted of online qualifiers. With an even bigger turnout expected this year, that number is likely to grow. Currently, online satellites are only available for the Main Event and are set to continue for another month.
