The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has unveiled details for the highly anticipated 2025 Tournament of Champions (TOC).

As in the previous year, Commerce Casino, home to the WSOP Circuit Los Angeles, will host this exclusive, invite-only bracelet event featuring a $1 million prize pool.

The 2025 WSOP Tournament of Champions is set to take place from May 15 to 17 at The Commerce Casino & Hotel in Los Angeles, California.

According to WSOP, this will be their 15th consecutive $1 million freeroll.

The event will serve as the final stop of the 2024/2025 WSOP Circuit season, running from May 8 to 24 at The Commerce Casino & Hotel. The series will feature 18 ring events, including a $2 million guaranteed Main Event.

“We are happy to return to The Commerce Casino & Hotel for the WSOP Tournament of Champions and our 15th consecutive $1,000,000 freeroll,” said Ty Stewart, Chief Executive Officer of the WSOP. “With a $2 million guaranteed Circuit Main Event, WSOP satellites and nonstop action at the world’s biggest poker room, this is like the opening ceremonies for the 2025 WSOP.”

WSOP 2025 Tournament of Champions Overview:

  • Runs from May 15 to 17
  • Takes place at The Commerce Casino & Hotel in Los Angeles, California
  • Runs as part of WSOP-C Final Stop just prior to the live WSOP 2025 series
  • $1 million freeroll as guaranteed prize money
  • Open to all Circuit and bracelet winners from June 2024
  • $2M Main Event featuring $1700 buy-in also included
  • Over 1100 qualifiers anticipated

The qualification criteria remain unchanged from last year—entry to the TOC is exclusively reserved for champions from the ongoing WSOP Circuit season (June 2024 to May 2025), with no entry fee required. Eligible players include gold ring winners from all live and online WSOP Circuit events this season, as well as bracelet winners from WSOP.com, GGPoker, WSOP Europe 2024, WSOP Paradise 2024, and the WSOP 2024 live series.

In 2024, 1,176 players qualified for the TOC, but fewer than half made the trip to Los Angeles, with only 559 participating—a turnout of 48%.

This year, it is expected that at least 1,100 players have also qualified for the event.

The Tournament of Champions has been hosted at various locations since its inception, but it was most popular among players when held in Las Vegas as part of the WSOP summer series, either at the start or end of the festival. That changed in 2024 when WSOP moved the event to California for the first time, scheduling it ahead of the summer series. The shift appeared to be an effort to drive attendance for the final WSOP Circuit stop at Commerce Casino—a strategy that seems to be continuing this year.

Despite being a freeroll, the TOC offers more than just a substantial cash prize—the winner also earns a coveted WSOP gold bracelet. In 2024, Dong Meng emerged victorious over Kevin Will, claiming the title and a $200,000 payday. Meng secured his spot in the exclusive event by winning the $1,000 Flip & Go at the 2023 WSOP in Las Vegas.

WSOP-C Final Stop of 2024/2025 Season

TOC 2025 will take place as part of the final WSOP Circuit stop of the ongoing 20th season. The series kicks off on May 8 with “The Tune Up”, a $300 mega satellite that gives players a chance to win a series package. A total of 10 packages are guaranteed on opening day, with each including vouchers worth $400, $600, and $1,700, which can be used to enter more than $2.5 million in ring events.

The Circuit schedule features multiple $400 and $600 buy-in events, beginning with the $600 Housewarming on May 9. Other notable events include a $2,200 High Roller, a $400 Seniors Event, a $600 HORSE, and $400 buy-in tournaments for TORSE, PLO, and PLO8. Interestingly, the schedule omits the increasingly popular Mystery Bounty format in favor of a new, untested ITM XL Bounty NLH event with a $600 buy-in. Ladies event is also not part of the schedule.

The Main Event maintains its $1,700 buy-in but doubles its guarantee to $2 million—up from $1 million last year. Featuring three starting flights, it runs from May 16 to 20, with Day 1 flights available through May 18.

“The Commerce is thrilled to be welcoming back the WSOP Circuit Finals, as well as the T.O.C., both of which are such prestigious events,” shared Cavin Quintanilla, the property’s new Tournament Director. “It takes a dedicated team to deliver legendary customer service and I am excited and honored to have the opportunity to collaborate with these two iconic brands. We will strive to uphold the integrity of the game, show everyone a great time and elevate each other’s legacy.”

This marks the second time WSOP Circuit is hosting a festival at Commerce Casino during the 2024-2025 season. The first took place in November, featuring the same 18 ring events. That series awarded over $4 million in prizes and drew 5,663 entries. By comparison, last year’s May edition was even larger, awarding over $6 million and attracting more than 9,000 entries.

The WSOP Circuit at Commerce Casino runs from May 8 to 24, with the Tournament of Champions scheduled for May 15 to 17.
