The popular PokerStars Mobile application, available for iPhone, iPad and Android devices, is now available to poker players in Canada.
The Mobile client has been rolling out country-by-country for over six months. It debuted in Italy back in January, the UK in February, France and much of the EU in April and Asia and Australia in May.
Until today Canada was thought to be one of the last remaining sizable countries without access to the app, with many Canadians clamoring for the release in poker forums. Although no release schedule is available, Jeffrey Haas, PokerStars Director of New Platforms, told pokerfuse earlier in the year that the roll-out is all part of a “multiphased release plan.”
The mobile app is a near-complete rendition of the desktop experience. Users can play cash games, SNGs, tournaments and Zoom, Hold’em and PLO games, and they will also be able to multi-table. The app is compatible with many devices including most Android phones and tablets and includes a recent update to support the “retina” display of the iPad 3.
To promote the mobile platform, PokerStars.com is running a special “Get Mobile this Summer” promotion. Anyone who earns at least 100 VPPs whilst playing a mobile device will get at ticket to a special $100k freeroll (period ends tomorrow). iPad 3s are also up for grabs for the top 100 finishers.
