Americas Cardroom, the flagship poker site for the Winning Poker Network (WPN), has announced that it will host a $1,000,000 guaranteed tournament on Sunday, December 14.
The event will award a minimum of $200,000 to the winner.
Promoted as the first seven-figure guaranteed event on a US-facing site in years, the $540 buy-in “Winning Millions” relies on a number of daily feeder tournaments from now through early December.
Along with the guaranteed prize pool, Americas Cardroom is promising “one free bank wire” to all Winning Millions participants who final table the event.
The marquee tournament goes hand-in-hand with WPN chief executive Phil Payton’s endeavors to grow the network over the course of the 2014 calendar year.
The second installment of its High Five tournament series held in June exceeded the original series’ guarantee by $70,000.
The WPN serves an international online poker market and is available in the vast majority of US states. However, the network pulled out of Nevada, Delaware and New Jersey two months ago—citing the existence of a regulated offering in those markets.
The Costa Rica based online poker network experienced a sharp decline in cash game seat traffic beginning June 10 and has not since recovered from the 34% drop off.
