GGPoker has announced the return of its Omaholic series. The self-styled “biggest Omaha series in the world” runs from June 27 to July 4 and promises $5 million in guaranteed prizes.
The four-card bonanza culminates in a massive $400,000 guaranteed Main Event for a buy-in of just $52.50.
It is the second run-out for the festival in three months, and features GG’s trademark format, No Limit Post-Flop Omaha. In other words, the game is played Pot Limit preflop, and No Limit thereafter.

Outside of the Main Event, the series features several highlights. For the more modest budgets, there is the $250 Sunday Main with $50,000 guaranteed, the $315 Bounty King with $60,000, and the $88 Monster Stack with $40,000.
For the high rollers there are some mouth-watering events on offer: the $840 Monster Stack with $100,000 guaranteed; the $5250 Bounty SHR which carries a prize pool of $150,000; and the $10,300 Super High Roller with a whopping $300,000 guaranteed.
The following tournaments have two editions, one on Sunday June 27, and the other on Sunday, July 4.

GG Continues its commitment to Omaha
GG’s first Omaholic Series in March was hugely ambitious, running over two weeks and with $7 million guaranteed in prize money. The sophomore edition of the festival has been dialed back somewhat but nevertheless, it remains the boldest Omaha-only online festival.
GGPoker is certainly getting behind the four-card variant. Their Omaha Squad was set up prior to the inaugural Omaholic series. The trio of specialists consists of Sasha “PokerSasha” Liu, Mikhail “Minthon19” Yakovlev, and Omaha phenom Fernando “JNandezPoker” Habegger who was a major contributor to the design of the original series.
In the short time since the debut Omaholic series, GG has gone from the fastest-growing poker room to simply the biggest poker site in the world. Just over a week ago, it was announced that it had overtaken PokerStars in cash game traffic—the first time Stars has ceded the top spot in 15 years.
It is a remarkable enough statement in its own right but to be achieved by a site which didn’t even launch until 2014, and didn’t move into European markets until 2017, it is truly incredible.
Operator Rivalry Means More Good News for Players
It’s a position that GG has no intention of letting slip any time soon. The recent launch of its Battle Royale game saw nearly 100,000 runners in the first three days, with a new game running every five minutes on average over that period.
These are the kind of numbers most sites could only dream of. GGPoker has not been shy of ruffling feathers in its pursuit of publicity and market share. But along with the controversy, there has been some serious hard work and innovation.
Few if any poker rooms would have considered pouring so many resources into promoting an Omaha series but it is exactly this kind of envelope pushing that has made it such a success.
More than anything, it shows that the appetite for online poker is still very healthy. The disruption to PokerStars 15-year hegemony should continue to produce good things for poker players, as the Red Spade brand is unlikely to take it lying down.
