PokerBros, one of the leading social poker apps that allow users to set up private games, has been on the rampage this year adding new variants to its long-growing list of unique poker games on an near-monthly basis.
Last week, the free-play app added the popular home game variant Pineapple and its cousin Crazy Pineapple to its game offerings, making it the fifth new game this year.
In Pineapple, players are dealt three cards preflop instead of two and players must discard one hole card before the betting round begins—thus adding in an extra decision to the game. In the Crazy variant players are also dealt three cards but the discard happens once the flop is dealt.
Otherwise, the game is played exactly like Texas Hold’em, with the same hand rankings used. The format is quite popular in home games and is also spread in some brick and mortar poker rooms as well as online—though not on any top-tier online poker room.
