4Poker, an Isle of Man-based online poker startup, has become the latest to embrace mystery bounties.
The format mirrors the structure of other mystery bounty tournaments are near ubiquitous now in online poker: A portion of the prize pool, typically around 50%, is allocated to fund the bounty pool. Players earn these bounties for eliminating their opponents, but the twist is that the rewards are entirely random. Bounties only come into play when players reach the money.
At first glance, 4Poker’s mystery bounty tournaments adhere to this tried-and-tested format seen elsewhere, with the tournament structured as a flight divided into two phases. Bounties range from less than 1% to as much as 20% of the total bounty prize pool.
However, 4Poker’s innovation is that these bounties can include not only cash prizes but also tournament tickets.
