Why the Mystery? What We Don’t Know About Game of Gold Season 2 Why the Mystery? What We Don’t Know About Game of Gold Season 2

We’ve known that the Game of Gold will be coming back for another season for some time now. The reality poker show powered by GGPoker has been a huge success, attracting poker fans and some fresh eyeballs, creating always welcome exposure for the game we all love and enjoy.

With this type of success, it was no surprise the operator decided to bring it back for Season 2. However, since that announcement, very little information has been made available in terms of potential lineups, prizes, or rules.

The little information we have came largely from players who participated in the first season and had some rare tidbits to share. GGPoker remains fairly tightlipped, keeping things close to the vest and holding us all in suspense.

Big Guns Coming Back?

Back in February, it was confirmed that Game of Gold was in production for Season 2, which means that the release date can’t be that far ahead. Yet, at this point in time, we know very little about what the new season might look like beyond what we saw during the first iteration.

Perhaps the most information came from recent interview Poker.org did with Olga Iermolcheva, one of the contestants on the 2023 show. Olga said that she won’t be coming back but that it is likely that producers will bring back some players who were eliminated early on, i.e. Daniel Negreanu, Jason Koon, etc.

She also shared that there will likely be some tweaks to the rules and slight changes to the format, but this was the extent of her knowledge.

To remind you, Maria Ho was the winner of the Game of Gold Season 1, and if we were to venture a guess, she’ll probably be in the mix as well. The decision was ultimately with the producers, of course, but it would make sense to see the winner return and try to repeat her success.

What Else to Expect from Game of Gold

No other info has been confirmed, officially or unofficially, with regard to the next season of the first-ever large-scale poker reality show. So, we can only speculate about what’s to come.

After the initial season of Game of Gold ended, some fans complained that it was too short, so maybe this one will feature more episodes. It’s easy enough to come up with a few more ideas for games and competitions to be thrown in there, and no one would certainly complain about more fun and free content.

The Season 1 winner picked up the entire prize pool of $456,000, the amount that was inspired by the hugely popular TV show Squid Game. Perhaps stakes will be increased this time around, although it is likely Game of Gold will stay true to the winner-takes-all format.

Indian Poker was one of the games featured in the first season, and it garnered a lot of attention from the public, so maybe it will be brought back in some way.

At the same time, the whole idea behind Game of Gold (and Squid Game, which largely inspired the show) is to catch players off guard. This means that we could see a whole new set of games and rules, adding twists and turns that no one saw coming.

Either way, we are all looking forward to Game of Gold Season 2, and although it would be nice to have some more info ahead of time, all the suspense and mystery make the anticipation bigger. It seems that GGPoker is taking the no-spoilers approach, and we can’t fault them for it; we can, however, hope that we don’t have to wait for much longer for the show to start airing!
