The first Full Tilt Poker Black Card Pros to earn their status under a new sponsorship program have been announced. Eleven players have qualified, with one more due when the mini-FTOPS tournament series finishes on January 19.
The new Black Card Pros will choose between $20k of entries to FTOPS and mini-FTOPS tournaments, or a $20k clearable bonus. They will also receive 100% rakeback, and “red name status” making them easier to identify at the tables for six months as they attempt to maintain their status.
The promotion which gives players the chance to earn Black Card sponsored pro status began six months ago following a long consultation with players about what criteria should be used to select the winners. A combination of methods was chosen, including tournament leaderboard winners and adjusted cash game winnings per hand.
Competition for the next group of Black Card Pros has already begun and runs through the end of April. The promotion will now run three times a year and the new group will acquire Black Card Pro status for four months.
