PKR Poker has released a teaser video showing some of the features of its forthcoming software upgrades. Better multitabling support, a movie-style hand replayer and new avatar emotions are all shown to be coming in client updates scheduled this year.
UK-focused PKR has gone in a different direction to the mainstream poker industry, emphasising the fun of playing poker and encouraging low volume recreational players. Its 3D graphics are processor intensive but create a playful comic-book effect that replicates the live casino experience with a strong dose of humor.
The live experience is replicated to the extent that you don’t see your own hole cards unless you actively look at them. When you do, your avatar checks the cards and all the players can see you have done so. PKR avatars reintroduce physical tells to online poker.
PKR poker was founded by Jeremy “Jez” San, a computer gaming entrepreneur. He was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in 2002. His honor was the first awarded specifically for services to the computer gaming industry. Jez is the only Chairman of a poker company who is also a life member of BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts).
The software updates will be released throughout 2012 and will include resizeable tables that can be tiled or stacked.
