PokerStars Mobile Adds iPad 3, Hand History Request Support

A new update to PokerStars’ much-loved mobile application was released earlier this week for UK and Italian players.

The major new feature has the ability to request hand histories direct from the client. These are then automatically emailed to the player. The other important update is the iOS app now fully supports the iPad 3 and its new retina display.

Also in the release notes is improved filters in micro-stakes games and other tweaks and fixes. Existing Mobile players can get the new version by running “update” in the client.

An automated way to get hand histories was a popular request among UK customers, who up to now had to email support to have hands sent to them. Having hand histories is important so players can import them into applications like Holdem Manager and PokerTracker to keep track of their results.

The mobile application, unveiled earlier in the year, is still only available to customers in Britain and Italy. Is is thought that customers in other regulated markets—France, Denmark and Belgium being likely candidates—will have access to the mobile client soon, although PokerStars could not give a timeline and it may rely on the ever-fickle acceptance process in each region’s Apple App Store.

But still no sign of the most requested feature: support for Zoom Poker. PokerStars has confirmed that it is being worked on, and only promises that it will be “very, very cool.”

PokerStars players new to mobile can download the app from the App Store or from pokerstarsmobile.com.
