PokerStars, the world’s largest online poker site, announced three new members of Team Online professionals.
According to the PokerStars Blog, 500 qualified PokerStars Supernovas applied to be a part of the sponsored team from which Team Online manager Chris Jonat selected Katerina “Katerina289” Malasidou, Matthias “Mati312” Brandner and Luka “LukaSteel” Kovac, all specialists in individual games.
Katerina Malasidou has already had some previous exposure to Team Online as her boyfriend, Andre Coimbra, is a part of the squad. Malasidou, hailing from Greece, quit her full time job to focus on poker at the convincing of her boyfriend and has found success in PokerStars’ hyper-turbos. The Magic: The Gathering fan also spends a good deal of her time blogging, for which she won the World Blogger Championship of Online Poker (WBCOOP) Best Female Blogger Award in 2013.
Matthias Brandet, “Mati312” online, is hailed as an online Badugi specialist. In addition he focuses on high stakes fixed limit lowball games such as 2-7 and Razz. The graduate from the University of Vienna specialized in information technology before turning to poker to supplement his income. Now, he is considered a top tier fixed limit player for PokerStars.
Luka “LukaSteel” Kovac is an example of someone never having lost their initial online deposit. He is a cash game Limit Hold’em specialist who cites video games, drinking beer and watching movies as his hobbies outside of poker. Having never held a 9-to-5 job, the former competitive skier turned to poker as a way to earn money and keep in competition.
