The first event of the Spring Championship Of Online Poker (SCOOP) is currently scheduled to start on May 6 with the last event beginning on May 20. But the schedule is not set in stone. Prior to finalizing it, the PokerStars Tournament Team is requesting feedback from players on the schedule.
In all there are 38 events on the schedule with each event consisting of three tournaments spread at three different stakes. That makes for a total of 114 tournaments across numerous poker disciplines including Badugi,Triple Stud and 8-game. The series also embraces variety by implementing several different structures such as rebuys, knockouts, shootouts and 4max tournaments.
So far there is no mention of the guaranteed prize pool for this year’s series. Last year the prize pool was reduced prior to the start of the series to compensate for the loss of American players due to the events of Black Friday. However, the original total of $45m in guarantees was almost reached without the American players as SCOOP 2011 boasted awards of $43,165,800 in prizes.
Also, coverage details have yet to be announced for 2012. Last year, PokerStars’ coverage of the events included the live daily web show: Inside Scoop. The show was hosted by Joe Stapleton and Nick Wealthall, but no announcement has been made to whether the show will continued this year or who will be hosting the popular webcast.
