Leading French regulated poker room Winamax has announced that it has become an official partner of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2014.
Winamax will be running satellites to the WSOP Main Event—which this year guarantees $10m to the winner—and to two side events, #51 $1,500 Monster Stack NLHE on June 26 and #56 $1,000 NLHE on June 29.
As an official partner, winners at Winamax will be automatically bought in to the WSOP events, guaranteeing them a seat in the advertised events.
Winamax is based and licensed in France, but is open to any player with a European bank account. It joins 888poker as an official partner: The Gibraltar-license dot-com poker room has a long-standing relationship with the WSOP in offering official packages to its European player base. This year players can start their path to the main event prize with step satellites with one cent buy-ins.
The Winamax Main Event packages reflect the likelihood that the winners may not speak English. On top of the tournament entry, flights and hotel accommodation, the package includes a limo from the airport to a hotel where players can check-in in French, and a cell phone with $20 of credit with a help number should players encounter any problems.
One package is guaranteed every Sunday in a €750 buy-in satellite. For the two side events, there will be a €300 satellite every Thursday. The smaller packages are valued at €3,520, and include the same benefits as the Main Event package. Daily satellites at €50 and €100 buy-ins provide a secondary route to the Thursday and Sunday events.
Winamax is also putting on live satellite tournaments at Cercle Clichy Montmartre, a Paris based casino that also hosts WPT National events.
Along with Winamax and 888, WSOP itself is offering satellites online. For the first time, WSOP owners Caesars are active in online poker in the newly regulated Nevada and New Jersey markets, and is thus the the exclusive provider of satellites in the US market.
This does not stop other online poker rooms piggy-backing onto the marketing opportunity of the year’s biggest poker event. Bovada, in the offshore US market, has announced its own “Road to Vegas,” as has UK-centric PKR—hotel accommodation, travel arrangements and enough money to buy into the events are awarded as prizes.
