Our Predictions for the 2025 World Series of Poker

While it is still early days and there aren’t many official facts about the 2025 WSOP out there, using our industry knowledge, experience, and various bits of pieces coming through the pipeline, we’ve come up with a few things to expect for the 56th World Series of Poker. We’ll continue to update and expand this list as more information becomes available.

The Main Event to Break Attendance Record Again

The attendance record set in 2012 remained intact for over a decade. However, once it was broken in 2023, it was like the spell was removed, and the Main Event went on to set yet another attendance record in 2024.

Could 2025 make it a trifecta? It’s quite possible, given the popularity of live poker, efforts that online operators like GGPoker and WSOP Online are putting towards qualifying players, and the simple fact that the $10,000 buy-in is simply not as much money as it was a decade ago. Since the buy-in remains unchanged year after year, the Main Event becomes more affordable, attracting more players every year.

Live Schedule to Break 100 Events for the First Time

The 2025 WSOP schedule will almost certainly feature a three-digit number of events for the first time in history. In 2024, it came just shy, featuring 99 bracelet-awarding tournaments, and with the trend of at least a few new events added to the mix every year, it is a safe bet that players visiting Las Vegas in the summer of 2025 will have a shot at over 100 bracelets.

More Online Bracelet Events

With WSOP Online combining player pools from New Jersey, Nevada, and Michigan, it is likely the operator will seek to expand its schedule of online bracelets. There were 30 in 2024 (plus seven on WSOP PA), but we could easily see over 40 for WSOP 2025.

What the final schedule looks like will depend a lot on whether Pennsylvania finally joins the MSIGA and if WSOP PA is allowed to combine its player pool with the rest of the network. If that happens before the start of the 2025 series, it’s safe to assume the operator will look to celebrate the occasion with the largest online festival to date.

2025 WSOP Schedule

The World Series of Poker schedule is usually released around December, at least in its preliminary form. We expect the 2025 WSOP schedule to be at least partially released before the end of this year, and we’ll dully update this page when that happens to help you with planning.

One thing we can be pretty certain of is that 2025 will be the first year to feature a three-digit number of bracelet events. The 2024 schedule had 99 tournaments, and the trend has been to add a few events last year, so it’s a pretty safe bet that there will be at least 100 bracelets awarded in 2025.

WSOP 2025 Main Event

After the Main Event attendance record has remained untouched for over a decade, it was broken two years in a row — in 2023 and then again in 2024.

Can the 2025 WSOP Main Event continue down this path and make it a trifecta? It is certainly too early to tell, but it is not out of the realm of possibilities. To do so, the 2025 tournament will need to have at least 10,113 participants.

However, we can reasonably anticipate that the WSOP 2025 Main Event will take place in the first week of July, coinciding with the US Independence Day holiday, and will include four Day 1s. We can also confidently expect that the first-place prize could be approximately $10 million, regardless of whether the Main Event breaks the attendance record again. Also, it is likely that the minimum payout will be set at $15,000, with around 15% of the participants receiving payouts.

No matter the outcome, it is poised to be an event not to be missed, especially following record-breaking attendance for the second consecutive year. This tournament is the most anticipated event of the year and is known for creating the highest number of millionaires in a single tournament.

Keep an eye out for qualifiers and satellites, as the organizers will strive to enable as many players as possible to qualify for this monumental event. Qualifiers will be available on both online and live platforms.

WSOP Online Bracelets in 2025

Now that players from New Jersey, Michigan, and Nevada have been joined together on one platform, rebranded as WSOP Online, we can look forward to an exciting schedule of online bracelet events.

In 2024, players in MI/NJ/NV combined market got to enjoy 30 online events, and we fully expect for the 2025 schedule to be at least as extensive.

In Pennsylvania, players at WSOP PA had the opportunity to play in seven online WSOP events, but things could change for 2025. It is possible that by the summer, Pennsylvania will join the MSIGA, which would allow WSOP to add the state to the existing player pool and bring all players onto one platform.

If this happens, we’ll have a single WSOP Online schedule, and it will likely feature a bigger number of tournaments, possibly 40 or even 50. If PA remains outside of the MSIGA, WSOP PA will probably host a small series just for players in the state, likely with a similar number of tournaments like in 2024 and 2023.

WSOP PA Joining Shared Liquidity Network Before WSOP 2025?

With WSOP 2025 set for late May, WSOP PA may soon join the shared liquidity network of Nevada, New Jersey, and Michigan, creating the largest online poker network in the U.S.

The barrier preventing Pennsylvania from joining the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA) has been lifted, as Governor Josh Shapiro has directed negotiations for PA’s membership. All five member states must approve this, which is likely.

Once approved, operators will need to connect the PA player pool with other states, a process that could take five to six months. Given PA’s status as the largest state with legal online poker, WSOP is expected to be ready for this expanded liquidity.

If WSOP PA joins the other states, players can anticipate a unified online bracelet series with larger prize pools and more opportunities to win.

2025 WSOP Online Qualifiers and Satellites

While it is still too early for online operators to start hosting satellites to the 2025 WSOP, we expect some of these to start appearing in the next few months.

In recent years, GGPoker was the main platform for those looking to lock up their World Series of Poker seats, and this should continue for 2025. In 2024, the operator sent 1,000 players to the Main Event (via its international and Ontario platforms), and with the 2024 tournament breaking the attendance record, there will be a lot of motivation to try and send even more qualifiers to Las Vegas for 2025.

In the US, players can qualify via the WSOP Online app.

As always, we expect a good mix of direct qualifiers and various path-based satellites, where players will be able to win WSOP entries starting with as little as $1 or even through freerolls.

WSOP+ App at the 2025 World Series of Poker

One thing we already know is that the WSOP will finally make its WSOP+ app available for the 2025 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. This free app is designed to completely streamline your WSOP experience, allowing you to easily stay up to date with the latest announcements, keep track of the tournament clock, and easily find out any other info you need.

The WSOP+ app has already been used at other festivals like the Bahamas, but this is the first time that it will be available for the main live series in Las Vegas.

Is the WSOP now Owned by GGPoker?

As of August 2024, the WSOP is owned by the parent company of GGPoker, changing hands for $500 million.

Two weeks after the record-breaking WSOP 2024 wrapped in Las Vegas, Caesars Entertainment agreed to sell their entire WSOP brand to the parent company of GGPoker.

Caesars said via a statement that GGPoker’s parent company NSUS Group Incorporated would pay $250 million up front, with the remaining $250 million due five years after the closing date of the transaction. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the year, and if that remains on target repayment would be complete by 2029.

However, fans of the WSOP brand will be pleased to hear that drastic changes to live events are not happening any time soon. As part of the deal, Caesars “secured the right from NSUS to continue hosting” the WSOP live tournament series from its Las Vegas properties for the next 20 years.

WSOP Circuit events will also continue to be operated and held in Caesars properties under the WSOP branding — but cross promotion with the GGPoker brand is also to be expected.

Online the WSOP Online remains a stand alone brand with GGPoker sites only appearing in Ontario and rest of world markets. Whether this changes in the future remains to be seen.
