The Women in Poker Hall of Fame inductees for 2024 have been chosen! Kristen Foxen and Jeanne David will be inducted to the Women in Poker Hall of Fame along with a posthumous entry for Starla Brodie in the new “Pioneer Induction” category in the Class of 2024.

Kristen Fox is a powerhouse in the poker world. She has over $8 million in tournament earnings, ranks second in the Hendon Mob All-Time Women’s Money List, has five WSOP bracelets to her name, plus she is a WPT and EPT finalist. She has been awarded the GPI Player of the Year three times and continues to play on the poker world’s largest stages. Foxen consistently dominates the fields in which she plays.

Jeanne David has been working tirelessly behind the scenes advocating for regulated online poker in the US for many years. She worked at PokerStars as Head of Responsible Gaming and became instrumental in the fight to legalize online poker in Michigan, New Jersey, Nevada and Pennsylvania. In addition, David was an active Nevada state lobbyist, often speaking to senators on how responsible gaming can be in incorporated into every online poker site — not just PokerStars. So if you play online poker in one of those regulated states, you have David to thank.

David is also a mixed game tournament player with over $250K in earnings, 95% of which came from mixed games.

People may not know the name Starla Brodie, but she is joining the Women in Poker Hall of Fame posthumously this year, under the new “Pioneer Induction” category which celebrates unsung women in poker. This category has been specifically design to celebrate women whose contributions and stories in poker have flown under the radar — Brodie fitting the bill perfectly.

Brodie was the first woman to win an open WSOP tournament after teaming up with poker legend Doyle Brunson. They won the 1979 WSOP $600 Mixed Doubles Event. She won her second WSOP bracelet in 1995 in the $1k Women’s WSOP Seven-Card Stud event. It is also noted that Brodie acted as a role model and inspired Linda Johnson to compete in the biggest games in poker.

“PokerStars is incredibly proud to support the Women in Poker Hall of Fame as part of our commitment to celebrating and empowering women in the poker community,” Kerryjane Craigie, PokerStars Ambassador for Women in Poker, said via a press release. “The Hall of Fame’s dedication to recognizing the achievements of female players aligns closely with PokerStars’ mission to foster equality and inclusivity in poker. By sponsoring this initiative, we hope to honor those who have paved the way and inspire a new generation of women to feel welcomed, valued, and motivated to thrive at the tables. Together, we’re creating a space where diversity strengthens the game for everyone.”

52 prominent women within the poker industry were nominated this year, with eight headlining the ballot that included: poker presenter Kara Scott, PokerStars Ambassador Jen Shahade, and Rebecca McAdam-Willets, an ex-PokerStars Director who spearheaded women in poker events throughout her tenure at the company. Over 1200 votes were cast from the poker community, with Foxen, David and Brodie emerging victorious.

Foxen and David will be inducted into the Women in Poker Hall of Fame at a “ceremony and luncheon” that takes place on Wednesday, December 11th, 2024 at 11AM at the historic downtown Plaza Hotel and Casino.

The induction Women in Poker Hall of Fame ceremony will be sponsored by PokerStars and tickets are available if you would like to attend.
