The 2014 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) was not the only major tournament series on PokerStars to start this weekend—the PlaySCOOP also held its first events.
PlaySCOOP is a play money version of the SCOOP, mirroring its real money sibling with 45 scheduled events.
It has two play money buy-in levels for each event—low and high. The first events were two NL Hold’em (6-Max) tournaments—one with a 20k play chip buy in, the other requiring 2m chips to enter.
Even though they are for play money, the tournaments levy 10% entry fees. The low event managed 860 entries, with the high receiving 122 entries.
The cheapest events have a buy in of 5k chips, but the Main Event demands that players hand over 10 million play money chips to take part.
None of the PlaySCOOP events come with guarantees, although this could be a future development. The regular play money tournament schedule—which can be played on the download client and its new Facebook app—has plenty of guaranteed events which run on a regular basis.
