Despite restrictions on international travel, the WSOP 2021 Main Event satellite program on GGPoker is in full flow.
For the first time in many years, an international operator other than 888poker is sending players to play the most iconic event of the poker calendar in Sin City this November thanks to GGPoker’s extended partnership with the World Series of Poker.
Billed as Road to Vegas, GGPoker is offering dozens of packages every week alongside the ongoing WSOP 2021 International online bracelet series.
Each package is worth $12,500 and consists of the following:
- $10,000 WSOP 2021 Main Event tournament entry
- Accommodation at Rio All-Suite Hotel for seven nights
- $1250 for travel expenses
- Entry to the GG WSOP Players Party
- GGPoker-branded merchandise
- Access to the GGPoker Platinum Lounge at the Rio
The satellite program kicked off on August 1, running a myriad of qualifiers and satellites around the clock for buy-ins starting as low as $25.
Hundreds of WSOP Packages to be Given Away on GGPoker
Thus far, 50 players have won the package worth $12,500 and have booked their seats to the $10K WSOP Main Event. Expect these numbers to shoot up further as GG is expected to ramp up the promotion as the event approaches near.
A Last Longer competition has also been announced for all the qualifiers with a chance to win a special WSOP Europe 2021 package.
Previously, 888poker—a long-time official sponsor of WSOP—had sent hundreds of players every year, but GGPoker could very well break the record for sending the most number of players in a single year.
Already in 13 days, the room has awarded 50 players—an average of 4 seats every day. Should the promotion run for another two months, there could be at least 228 further qualifiers.
Whether that happens remains to be seen. With the rise in the number of Covid-19 cases across the US and other parts of the world, international travel restrictions still persist in the country. Furthermore, WSOP recently published Covid-19 disqualification rules that could discourage some players from taking part in the WSOP live series.
However, GGPoker has stated in the FAQ section that those who “cannot attend the WSOP Main Event” will be offered T$10,000 in exchange for the Main Event entry. But this would be assessed case by case, a representative stated on GGPoker’s official Discord channel.
If a player wins more than one package, subsequent packages will be exchanged for tournament dollars worth $10,000. The promotion also requires all the qualifiers to wear a GGPoker patch in order to participate in the last longer competition.
WSOP Live Return in Fall
The in-person World Series of Poker is slated to run this fall. A total of 88 gold bracelet events are expected starting September 30 and running through to November 23, some four months later than usual due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The $10,000 WSOP 2021 Main Event is scheduled to run from November 4 through 17. There will be four Day 1s and two Day 2s before the two flights join together for a Day 3 on November 10.
Not just GGPoker but WSOP’s own online poker rooms in New Jersey, Nevada and Pennsylvania are running Main Event satellites every Sunday. Furthermore, GGPoker’s private club-based app ClubGG is also giving away packages. Already, three players have won the seats.
The Road to Vegas continues to run this month. Every day, one package is guaranteed for a buy-in of $1050. On Sundays, five packages are being given away in total with buy-ins of $250 and $1050.
