When the World Series of Poker unveiled the schedule for the upcoming summer WSOP 2024 series, set to start at the end of May in Horseshoe & Paris Las Vegas, the schedule did not include a single online bracelet event.

While they were not included in the line-up, WSOP officials did confirm that the online component of the series will make a return for US online poker players.

According to Kevin Mathers aka Kevmath on X — invariably a trusted source for all things WSOP — the announcement for the online bracelet schedule is anticipated to arrive by this Friday, March 15.

If Kevmath is right, players eagerly awaiting the schedule will finally have their wait come to an end, allowing them to prepare for the summer series.

Predictions for WSOP 2024 Online Bracelet Schedule in the US

Shared Liquidity for WSOP Online 2024

The WSOP online bracelet events will take place concurrently in all four states where WSOP operates: Nevada, New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. The looming question remains whether WSOP MI will merge its player pool with WSOP NJ & WSOP NV and share the same bracelet events.

This speculation has persisted for the past two years, but it has yet to materialize. However, there is a slim chance that this could happen this year. By Friday, we will have clarity on whether Michigan online poker players will compete alongside those from New Jersey and Nevada.

Total Number of WSOP Online Bracelet Events in the US

While the exact schedule remains unknown, we can estimate the number of online bracelet events for US players.

In 2023, a total of 34 online bracelets were up for grabs across New Jersey, Nevada, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Among these, 20 were shared between players in New Jersey and Nevada, while Michigan and Pennsylvania each hosted seven separate events.

This year, there’s a strong possibility of an increase in the number of online bracelet events, given their popularity over the years. We anticipate WSOP might offer between 20 to 30 online bracelets for the shared liquidity network, while WSOP MI & WSOP PA could each host six to eight bracelet events.

The online bracelet series in NJ & NV have been highly successful, with last year’s prize pools exceeding $20 million, and individual events averaging over $1 million. In contrast, the segregated series in MI & PA have seen smaller prize pools, averaging around $100,000 due to the smaller player pool.

Buy-ins for these events could range from $300 to $5300 or even $10,000, with popular events such as the $1000 NLHE Online Championship, $777 Lucky 7’s, $600 NLHE Ultra Deepstack, and $500 Summer Saver likely to return. Additionally, the hybrid online-live bracelet event, which debuted last year with a buy-in of $5300, may make a comeback.

Tournament Variety for WSOP Online 2024

Since WSOP MI & WSOP PA operate on 888’s next-generation software which supports numerous modern features, including Mystery Bounty Poker tournaments — PA and MI players will have a distinct advantage in terms of variety on the schedule. However, the platforms for WSOP NJ & WSOP NV are still running on 888poker’s classic software, lacking support for Mystery Bounty tournaments. Unless WSOP upgrades the software in these two states, this format will not be available.

WSOP Online Player of the Year?

Furthermore, the Player of the Year contest is expected to return in all four states. There’s a possibility that this year, online bracelets won’t contribute to the Player of the Year contest designated for the live bracelet events in Las Vegas, but will instead we may see an Online Player of the Year award.

Additionally, WSOP is anticipated to unveil details for the $1 million freeroll Tournament of Champions this Friday. Unlike previous years, the Tournament of Champions won’t be integrated into the WSOP 2024 Las Vegas series but will be held separately.
