The Portuguese gaming regulator, the SRIJ, has finally approved the ultra-popular lottery sit and gos (LSNG) game format, commonly known as Spins or Spin and Gos, in regulated sites.

First reported by Portuguese local news site Poker.PT, the gaming regulator published Regulation No. 348/2021 on April 20 in the Diário da República authorizing online poker rooms to spread the format for real money.

It comes nearly three months after the draft proposal was approved.

This means that, for the first time, Portuguese online poker players will be able to enjoy the three-handed fast-paced tournament since the regulated market opened. Players had access to the game prior to regulation, when Portuguese poker rooms were part of the global player pool; this official approval should end the five-year drought.

Both PokerStars and 888poker—the only two rooms permitted to offer online poker in the country—have confirmed to PRO that they are working with the regulators to launch the ever-popular format.

“We are glad to see the latest news and are working closely with the regulator on any possible next steps,” a PokerStars representative told PRO.
