TWIPP 12-25-11
It seems like some of the down time that the holidays bring didn’t stop those that make our favorite poker podcasts. There were so many to choose from this week. With limited listening time, I decided to sample some the following:
Coming off of a bye week, the Rabbit Hunt plays catch-up on all the top headlines from the past two weeks. For those that might have fallen a bit behind on the news due to the holidays, this episode is for you. As usual the guys dig deep into the implications and interpretations of the happenings in the poker world. And, if you find a line like “F*** this guy … We don’t need this f***ing douche bag” to be your kind of podcast content, then you will enjoy this week’s offering of the Rabbit Hunt.
I gave a listen to one of the first poker podcasts that I frequented back in the day. Ante Up! is geared more towards the live player, but I find their perspectives different and interesting. Though I tend to disagree with their reasoning on many topics, they do provide insight into the minds of live and recreational players. This week was no exception. Their discussion of Dusty “leatherass” Schmidt’s November blog post – The Problem With an Online Poker Rating System – captured my attention even though I already had a pretty strong opinion on the topic.
I immensely enjoyed Kevin “KevMath” Mathers on the The Final Table this week. He displayed pure professionalism when having to correct the misinformation being presented by others on the show on more than one occasion. On the other hand, it would have been amusing to hear him blurt out “WRONG!” Still, there is a lot of good information as the guys take a look back at the biggest poker stories of 2011.
Of the shows I haven’t listened to yet, the 2+2 PokerCast tops my “next up” list with guests Randy “nanonoko” Lew and Andrew Lichtenberger. I also can’t wait to listen to Kristy’s second half of her interview with Jared Tendler. And, Filthy Limper Poker Radio has launched a news show called AMIRITE? starring KevMath. They have released two episodes and I have yet to give it a listen. I am targeting that one for next week.
Till then, feel free to leave your own reviews, rip on mine, or suggest other podcasts for my listening pleasure. Merry Christmas!
