The first podcast I reached for this week was AMIRITE?. I had been interested in sampling it since its inception just a few weeks back. Well maybe it’s just lolsamplesize, but it was a very rough listen. There seemed to be no chemistry between Johnny “@TrupQQ” Sep and Kevin “@KevMath” Mathers and overall the show was pretty dry. Perhaps I’ll give it another listen in the future to see if they were able to work out the kinks.

Next up was DonkDown. They had made my “almost listened to” list a couple of times but when I saw that Gavin Smith was on talking about Joe Sebok I just had to listen. Gavin’s interview is sandwiched between the anal sex discussion and the serious poker segment where the cast talks “snorting coke off of titties” with Pokerati Dan. Gavin is his usual entertaining self but gets pwned trying to defend Sebok. I mean, not BJNemeth pwned, but then again it was by Micon.
The show is very raw, but there is also some great points made by Pokerati Dan on the recent DOJ letter clarifying the Wire Act. And I have to admit I found it quite amusing when they discovered the existence of pokerfuse live on air.

After 3 hours of DonkDown I needed a dose of reality, so I fired up The Rabbit Hunt. I know I have written a lot about this show of late and I didn’t plan on including it again this week but perhaps I’m becoming a fan. It’s another good episode this week on which they discuss the recent rake and rakeback calculation changes made at PokerStars, New Jersey possibly entering the online poker market, the Duhamel home invasion case and information released as part of Phil Ivey’s divorce.
Though good for the most part, their discussion of the PokerStars issue was glaringly incomplete because they did not mention what many people think is the key issue. The changes to the rakeback calculations will result in less rewards being distributed – period. It’s not just that high-volume players will see less and low-volume players will see more rewards: It’s that the rewards taken from the high-volume players will be divided between the low-volume players and the house.
The podcast that I didn’t get to this week but looks like it’s promising is an interview with Eric “Sheets” Haber on Oneouter.com. I don’t normally find interviews with poker players to be all that interesting, but I believe Sheets has insights into areas of the poker world that few others have.
That’s all for this week. As usual, feel free to leave your own reviews, rip on mine, or suggest other podcasts for my listening pleasure.
