Key Takeaways
  • A market access agreement with Caesars allowed Fubo to launch in 5 states.
  • Under a market access agreement announced in March 2021, Fubo was given a chance to launch sports betting in Indiana and New Jersey.
  • A partnership between Fubo and the NFL’s New York Jets was announced in September 2021.

The departure of Fubo Sportsbook from the US sports betting space offers rival operators an opportunity to launch in nine states, all but two of which currently offer sports betting either online or through retail establishments.

Fubo Sportsbook was live in just three of the nine states where it had market access — Arizona, Iowa, and New Jersey — last Monday when parent company FuboTV announced it had concluded a “strategic review” of its sports betting business and determined that the venture was not profitable.

But that doesn’t mean other operators aren’t willing to try to succeed where Fubo — which envisioned a platform that combined sports betting with live streaming of sporting events — could not. Emerging brands like Fanatics, MaximBet, SBK, and SI Sportsbook could ultimately take Fubo’s place.
