Europe’s biggest poker card room, Dusk Till Dawn Poker & Casino (DTD) based in Nottingham, UK, has launched private rooms at its iPoker online poker room. Access to the rooms is restricted to registered members at the live club.
No Limit Hold’em and Omaha games are available at stakes from $0.05 to $2/$5 with buyins from 50 to 250 big blinds. All players in the so-called “Club Cash Games” have to be registered using photo ID. At the tables, real name, town of residence and DTD photo will all be displayed for every player to see.
Tables are all eight handed, and all poker tracking software is banned.
The concept is the opposite of Bodog’s anonymous tables. In an interview with PokerNews, CEO Rob Yong said: “There is no doubt in my mind that anonymous poker will be finished when online poker is properly regulated.”
Rob, well known for expressing his distaste for the online game, stated in the interview: “… the truth about online poker is that new and recreational players don’t stand a chance unless they get incredibly lucky in a tournament or just have very deep pockets.”
The private online rooms will benefit from Simon Trumper’s presence as manager and his strict monitoring of etiquette and rules. Rob Yong says that his aim is to replicate the experience of the live poker game online, and his goals are modest—200 hours of table action a week on the new private tables.
The DTD live poker room in Nottingham has 65,000 registered members and Rob is hoping that 1% of them will sign up and play regularly. If he does not get that volume within six months, he has announced that he will leave the poker industry.
Seven months ago DTD moved its online poker room from GTECH to iPoker, exploiting the phenomenal success of its live poker room to drive site traffic.
Rob Yong is widely credited for the success of the first International Stadiums Poker Tour (ISPT) event at London’s Wembley Stadium. After a series of public relations and management errors, DTD stepped in and guaranteed €1m to the Main Event winner, and took over the event management.
